Letrozole | Breast Cancer Treatment

Letrozole is an effective aromatase inhibitor used primarily in the treatment of hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer, particularly in postmenopausal women. By blocking the enzyme aromatase, which converts androgens into estrogen, letrozole lowers estrogen levels in the body. Since estrogen can stimulate the growth of certain types of breast cancer cells, this reduction helps prevent cancer recurrence. Often prescribed as an adjuvant therapy after surgery or radiation, letrozole has been shown to significantly improve survival rates and reduce the risk of cancer returning.
