Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, was founded in 1727 AD by the Kachhwaha ruler Maharaja Jai Singh II. Under the architectural guidance of Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, the city was designed according to the principles of Vastu Shastra and Shilpa Shastra. Jaipur was divided into nine blocks—seven reserved for the public and two for royal palaces and state buildings. In 1876, the city was painted pink to welcome the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII), earning it the famous nickname, "The Pink City." Jaipur today stands as a vibrant blend of culture, tradition, and heritage.
